House of Horrors

Normally, you wouldn’t volunteer to house-sit for a perfect stranger, but the desperation in your best friend’s voice made you cave. Your friend Sam’s cousins, the Carters, are leaving town and need someone to house-sit their lavish, but incredibly old and remote rural home while they’re away on an overnight camping trip. It would be easy money and you’ve got a free weekend- what are friends for, anyway?

You’re dropped off that Saturday afternoon by Sam at the Carter’s home, and it turns out to be a lot spookier (and dangerous) than you thought it would be. Almost every floorboard creaks and there’s exposed wire everywhere! The worst part is, you can’t make a call on your cell phone from anywhere in the house, and the owners (not too surprisingly) don’t have a landline. Hopefully you won’t have to get a hold of anyone on the phone while you’re staying there.

You read over the note left on the kitchen counter and have just a few chores to take care of before the night is through. The chores include things like making sure all the doors are locked, feeding their daughter Jane’s fish upstairs in her bedroom, and turning out all the lights when you leave Sunday morning. The house seems cozy. Old, but cozy.

Your other best friend Alex (who is admittedly a little more foolhardy than Sam) commits to keeping you company through text. Eventually, Alex comes to the conclusion that you should both throw an epic house party at the country home. Alex just needs the address…
